About MEEHCON
Following the successful completion of NEEHCON, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Calicut is organizing the International Conference on Materials for Energy, Environment, and Healthcare 2024 (MEEHCON '24). The conference scheduled on December 20th and 21st, 2024, aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers, research scholars and industrialists to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Materials for Energy, Environment, and Healthcare. MEEHCON '24 provides a premier interdisciplinary platform to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns, as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in these fields. This event also emphasizes the importance of knowledge exchange and fostering collaborations among international institutions, promoting global advancements in materials science and engineering.
About MSED
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (Formerly School of Nano Science and Technology) at National Institute of Technology Calicut offers programs at the Bachelors, Master’s and Doctoral levels, in various academic streams related to Materials Science and Engineering. The department also manages sponsored research projects from various funding agencies. The faculty, students and research scholars are involved in dedicated learning and research to explore, understand and improve materials and processes from a fundamental perspective. The varied interests of the department include study of nanoscale physical phenomena, materials for sustainable energy solutions, nanodevices, nanomaterials and composites, biosensors, targeted drug delivery systems, bio-implants, experimental research in nanoscale flow and heat transfer, optical measurements, combustion and nanoparticle fuel additives, synthesis of nanomaterials including carbon nanotubes, semiconductor materials for photovoltaics and optoelectronic devices, perovskite based emerging solar cells, discrete computational studies on nanoscale systems. The department also hosts a Centre for Characterization and Electron Microscopy.
National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) is one of the 31 institutions of national importance set up by an Act of Parliament namely the ‘National Institute of technology Act 2007’, and is fully funded by the Government of India. The mandate of the Institute is to provide higher technical education and conduct research in the various branches of Engineering, Science, Technology and Management. Originally established in 1961 as a Regional Engineering College (REC), it was transformed into National Institute of Technology in 2002. The Institute offers bachelors, masters and doctoral degree programs in Engineering, Science, Technology and Management.
